How I Work

I am somewhat eclectic in my training and approach to helping my clients.  Once I get to know and understand you I will tailor therapy to adjust to your needs or request.

If you tell me that you are struggling with a traumatic memory that is impeding your ability to cope on the job or at home, or in a strategic relationship, then I will recommend trauma therapy.  One of trauma’s side effects can be the feeling of anxiety.  I know that if I don’t treat your trauma then no matter how hard we work to diminish your anxiety, you will continue to experience symptoms of anxiousness.

If you tell me that you are having panic attacks then I will likely recommend trauma therapy for you as well. Traumatic memories can be buried in your subconscious mind and layers of unrelated life experience will lead you to feel you don’t have a problem with that particular trauma when it may be leading you around and you’re not aware that it may be at the root of other problems.

EMDR, EFT and Anchors and Scripts from NLP

EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing)  is a type of trauma therapy that is exceedingly effective for diminishing the symptoms of trauma such as anxiety, trouble with going to sleep and/or staying asleep, flashbacks, nightmares, agitation, relationship issues, fears, and more.

EMDR is recommended by the American Psychological Association as well as the American Automobile Association and I personally find the results are something we both can be quite happy with.

EFT (Emotional Freedom Technique) is also effective at diminishing the effects of trauma and is a great solution for managing anxiety, as well as diminishing symptoms that develop as a result of anxiety or other issues. EFT is also good for addressing and altering subconscious programming.

NLP (Neuro Linguistic Programming) anchors and scripts is hypnotherapy and will help you tackle subconscious blocks that may be preventing you from healing.

And if we find that you have trauma as well as resultant negative self talk, as an example, then we may find that utilizing all three therapies listed above has a place on our therapeutic menu.

Generalized anxiety is very different.  For this I will teach you mindfulness and meditation as well as many strategies for managing your triggers and limiting your stressors.  Many of my clients have learned just how useful practicing mindfulness can be in turning their life around.  With these tools you can develop insight about yourself and/or your problems.  Once you start to develop insight you will be on the path to recovery as long as you continue to utilize these wonderful tools.
