Panic Disorder

Panic Disorder is diagnosed when you have recurrent and unexpected panic attacks that stem from your subconscious fear(s) that reach a peak within 10 minutes.  Do you suffer any of these symptoms:

  • Chest pain
  • Fear if dying
  • dizzyness
  • Fear of losing control or going crazy
  • Nausea or abdominal distress
  • Shortness of breath or feeling as though you are being smothered
  • Numbness or tingling sensation
  • Feelings of being detached from reality or oneself

You also realize that you persistently fear that these attacks will reoccur as well as cause other consequences.  This includes behavioral changes in yourself due to the attacks that warrant seeking the services of a psychotherapist.  You may feel so overwhelmed with a sense of terror even though you recognize that no real danger exists.

Counseling with me will help you:

  • Reduce and manage your anxiety to normal healthy levels (you need anxiety as a beacon to alert you for self preservation purposes)
  • Increase your sense of calm, and your confidence will begin to return
  • Reduce your body’s symptoms such as dizziness, chest pain and heart palpitations
  • Become happier in time, as you learn to develop your awareness.  You learn what causes your stress which could trigger an unforeseen attack
  • And if you’re living with Agoraphobia as well, you’ll learn strategies to help you begin to expand your comfort zone again (see Agoraphobia to learn more)
